Personal Myth & Cultural Complexes Workhop

with Irina Avdeeva, M.A.

James Hillman believed that we all have a unique calling – our personal daimon – an innate potential that unfolds over the course of our lives. If we pay attention, in the messiness of our lives we will start seeing an underlying myth that serves as a unique expression of our soul. It weaves our experiences into one coherent life story, which can bring profound healing, allowing us to integrate any disowned parts and find our way back to wholeness.

However, the roots of that story reach deeply into the ground of collective cultural complexes that provide a setting for our myth and shape how our daimon comes into realization. Often, we are unaware of the dynamics that this connection creates in our lives.

In this experiential live-video workshop, we will use art materials and journaling prompts to connect to our personal myth and gain a deeper understanding of our path.

Each session, we will start by looking at the Jungian framework that will help us set a structure for exploration. We will then spend some time journaling and drawing/painting, followed by our sharing and joint reflections in smaller breakout rooms. To provide a safe space for all participants, we will not record the sessions. We kindly ask you to have your cameras on during the workshop to facilitate a sense of community. Please bring your journal and any art materials to draw or paint. We will spend 2-2.5 hours for each session.
