OCTOBER-NOVEMBER
The Psychology of the Underworld:
Myth, Symbol, and Depth
with JOHN SELIG
6 SESSIONS
Wednesdays starting Oct. 28, 2026
Pluton i Persefona, Nowakowski (1919)
In this course, we will deeply explore the archetype of Pluto, god of death and depth.
Drawing on lesser-known myths and ancient philosophy, each session will examine the Plutonian from a different angle, toward developing a nuanced understanding of how the underworld shows up in myth, psyche, and beyond. This course is a cross-cultural exploration of the interplay between life, death, and rebirth, both psychologically and symbolically—and how we might draw meaning from those experiences.
This course blends myth, psychology, philosophy, and archetypal astrology. We'll work with myths and images from Greece, Rome, Iceland, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Japan, and more—each culture has something to teach us about the fullness of this archetype. You'll have opportunities not just to learn, but also to work with this pattern in yourself. We'll engage with the archetypal images of depth, death, and rebirth, and together we'll ask: just how deep does the underworld go?
